2017 Subaru Impreza owner

Hey Guys. I recently bought a silver 2017 subaru impreza manual. Base model. I sold my 2001 subaru impreza for it. I was having alot of problems and rust with that car and needed something more reliable. This is my first 0 mile car. **** this is the first time I have a car alarm so lets put it at that. I am in love with the car. I do have some questions if you guys dont mind helping me out.

1. I want to change the shiftknob but I noticed that the boot is attached to the knob itself so it won't come off. I dont want to damage anything, has anybody been able to remove it?

2. I want to upgrade and get yellow foglights. My car has no fog lights at all. Has anyone done this to their impreza yet and is it simple plug and play? Any site suggestions?

3. I want to upgrade the headlights. In was thinking HID but not to sure. Want that blue/white look. Not sure if there are some descent bulbs that can do this or has anyone picked up an affordable HID kit from anywhere? Site suggestions?

4. I purchased the extra warranty that subaru offered. I felt like it really put a dent in my wallet. I bought the car for 20k even and the price tag jumped to 20500. I still have a chance to return it. What is the suggestion? Should I keep it or get my money back? It covers up to 100k miles bumper to bumper. They sold me on the fact that the electronic components will give out faster than anything else. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I replaced the shift knob. It's 12mm x 1.25 thread and just unscrews. There's a collar at the bottom of the knob to hold the boot up. I added a bushing to do the same thing as the collar since mine had a plain bottom.

Just want to make sure I'm reading this right...you got the 7 year extended warranty for $500? If that is the case, my dealer offered me the same warranty for $2,300. Regardless I was never going to purchase the warranty. If you feel you will have the car for longer than 3 years/36,000 miles then the warranty may make sense. For me, if I decide to keep the car past the warranty (most likely 3 years will happen first) then I'll shop around prior to the warranty expiring to see if it's worth it or not. Honestly, it's all a gamble.

That's a bold strategy Cotton let's see if it pays off.

my mistake. It jumped to 24500. So about the same price and taxes added went to 24500.

That makes a lot more sense. This is where you'll need to determine if it's worth it to you. Some people will say always go for the extended for peace of mind. Others will not even consider it because they don't think it's worth it. Like I said above it's a gamble.

I do agree with your dealer though on the electronics statement. I've already had to have the control module replaced on my infotainment system less than a month into ownership. If issues with the infotainment continue I will be looking into an extended warranty prior to the factory warranty expiration.

I did not have an extended warranty on my previous vehicle after the factory warranty expired since I had minimal issues with it.

Extended warranty pricing can always be negotiated too.

That's a bold strategy Cotton let's see if it pays off.
