As an option I added the Aero Crossbar (made by Thule) to my new Impreza-5
They are good and don't have a big impact on performance and fuel economy.
The added noise level is also ok.
I added a Thule bike rack to it and also plan to install a Kayak rack later.
Impreza a are made for active people!

I'm from Canada too and I was thinking of getting the same set up, but also have the 340L cargo box

I did just about all of that (not the bike rack) on my Forester thinking that I would use it a bunch.
I didn't.
But, I used to when I was younger but I left my boat at the yacht club so I only had it on my car twice a year.

Looks solid. I take it that the footing is static? I haven't removed the black covering to see where it mounts yet. It's not able to adjust across the roofline?
Does it make a wind "howl" on the hwy? My previous car made so much noise, I had to add a fairing, which made a big difference in silencing the wind noise. They were also aero-styled bars, which I thought would be better than round or square ones.

On the highway, I hear the wind only if the roof is open.
Other than that, it is relatively quiet.
In windy condition, I also feel some resistance on some turn.
Fuel Consumtion is little higher with an average of 7.7 l/100km (31 mpg) instead of the usual 7.5l/100km (32 mpg)
