Hey guys I've got a 2022 Impreza premium and I'm going to be needing some new tires soon so im looking into my options. Ive seen around the site that 215/55R16's fit on the stock wheels with no problem, I will default to that option if I don't get any feedback here, but id like to go just a little bit taller. Im thinking 225/55R16? Anyone out there try this size on a stock Impreza? Ive scraped the bottom of the car a few times hitting potholes and even just pulling into driveways so Im looking to ride a little higher without modifying my newish car.

Agreed, have you run 215/60R16's before without issue? Im definitely open to that option if they fit the stock car with the stock wheels. That would give me roughly 1/2" more ground clearance than the 205/55R16's it came with.

Yes I understand the speedo will be off slightly. From what Ive read around here on the site the factory tires actually read a little fast and 215/55r16's are dead on. So if I am able to go any larger it will read a little slow, nothing crazy, and im fine with that. I'm just looking to see if anyone has successfully up-sized to 225/55r16's without otherwise modifying the car, or as Rxslim has suggested 215/60r16's (even better if their not too tall) but again im hoping someone has been there and done that and can let me know they didn't have any issues.

I went with a slightly taller sidewall for the 18's on my Sport hatch and it did not affect the speedo enough to notice. If you run a tire size calculator, you will find the overall diameter varies from the base 16" to the sport's 18". So there is a little wiggle room if you want. Just don't go too crazy and you should be fine.

Hey! I have gone all out on my 18' Impreza with a lift and tires and can say that for sure you'll fit those bad boys in there with no rubbing. Anderson Design has a max tire chart for most gens of Subi. HERE that states you can go 215/60/17, 205/75/15, 215/70/15, 215/65/16, 225/55/17 . So doing that in 16's is actually even more clearance. I went with Falken Wildpeaks 215/65/16. After I lifted I honestly felt I could have gone bigger? But before the lift I still had zero issues.

Thanks for the info Boinks, so you went with the 215/65/16's before your lift and didn't have any issues? I do have the factory "mudflaps" but i'm also not looking to go quite that tall, I would assume i'm good with the 215/60/16's if the 65's had no problems. Just fyi that chart is for cars with a 1.5-2" lift.

I had the absolute slightest bit of rubbing on my front tires when fully turning. but nothing you couldn't fix with trimming the inner wheel well plastic. This chart aims towards giving your car that perfect wheel to car gap with your lift that it had factory. So you really have a bit more room to work with if that makes sense.
