About an hour after I sent the specs to my salesman, he emailed me back with this:

"My manager went to order your Impreza only to find that all ordering is currently shut down. I checked my inbound cars and everything that was supposed to arrive in May has been pushed back to June. So it seems like the microchip shortage has finally hit us hard."

So it's at best a coin toss that I'm too late for a stick shift Impreza. Might have to go for a Crosstrek instead but not a fan of the way they look. Oh well. Thought folks here would like to know.

This chip shortage is part of the reason I ended up replacing mine & my wife's car in January/February time frame.

Going to take a while to work its way through the system.

Are you going to keep trying and hope you can get something in for this gen?

Yes I am. Worst case I'll get a crosstrek later...but my kid ordered one of those, so I'll drive it and see how it does for her. I'm not a big Subaru fan, it's more a matter of avoiding some of the tech nonsense. Used cars are super expensive again plus don't age well in michigan. I just want a manual again.

Today I got another email from my salesman: "I had my manager dig a little deeper into ordering the Imprezas. It looks like there are four colors available to order right now. Black with ivory interior, Red with ivory interior, Silver with black interior, and White with black interior."

So what's a guy to do? I put $500 down to order a silver over black 5door base Imp.
A microchip shortage I can understand, but a shortage of blue paint...?

On the way back from the dealer, of course I ran across an ocean blue Impreza 5door... and boy, that is VERY blue. I guess I'll be alright with the silver.

Time is getting tight for the 2021s, but I got this today from my salesman:

> I hope your day is going well! We finally have a VIN for your Impreza. Time of arrival still says month of June so I will keep on monitoring that for you.
Just when I was about to write it off. That one should be in the running for "last stick Impreza ever", at least in the U.S.
Anyway, given how prices have been going, I'll be quite happy to get this done.

Are you guys too young to remember the Maverick? Only worse Ford was the Escort. Ford Maverick (1970) - Wikipedia

We got our 21 Sport last Friday, after waiting since March 22. Seems the engine and transmission had to be shipped from Japan, on top of the chip shortage, so it could be build in Indiana.
