Hello all, I just bought and drove off the lot my new 2017 Impreza Sport. First time buying a new car, first time Subaru owner.

I had a few issues while purchasing the vehicle.

First, the dealership I went to gave me a pretty decent deal pre taxes and fees - 24,985 for this car a few days ago...has sunroof, eyesight, h/k audio upgrade, and starlink. So just with that I was pretty happy. However, noone seemed to be able to answer any of my questions in regards to how the financing worked...what the apr would be, for how long, etc. I also asked about the recalls and firmware updates to which I was told would all be taken care of before I drive it off.

So today I went in to get the car and complete the deal, and I notice it's filthy even though they claimed they washed it. Not a huge deal I guess, I can do a better job on my own time, but I really expected better. Then i notice chipped paint on the side of the door as if it hit something when the door opened, and a few scratches on the front drl plastic and on the front bumper....nothing horrible but I noticed it. Right away the salesman offered to compensate me with free accessories (up to a certain price that was unmentioned) but also said he would see about repairing the door chip. He mentioned that it would be a lot of work since it will no longer be factory done paint and would need to be melded with the front/rear so that it doesn't look off. This kind of annoyed me but I will be dealing with this on Friday.

So then I go to talk with the financial expert to finish the deal and he starts with a rate of 6.4%..i was ready to walk because he was giving off an attitude but I mentioned the 1.9 and he was like oh well noone told me about that, where did you see that? Who said that was okay? To which I responded well noone seemed to have any knowledge on the subject for me to even bring it up so how would they tell you? And I said it's all over the Subaru website. So he does it and flat out says I'm getting 48 months, no flexibility...not sure if that's normal or not but there was no set limit on the Subaru website.

Then I drove it off the lot and got home and find that the infotainment is still on the February update, not the later June or July update that j saw come out...so does this mean they also did not fix the recalls?

So what should I do in this situation? I'm really not happy so far..should I contact SOA? I don't seem to get very far dealing with this dealership..

Sounds like you just have a crappy dealership. I have 2 where I live and the original one I went to on a recommendation was awful with getting my car ordered from the factory and keeping me updated which ended up being pushed back until the 2018s after waiting 8 weeks. I got my deposit back and went to the other one and purchased my car and they have been worlds better. I know you cant do that but I would contact SOA and tell them and see if they can get it straightened out for you. I doubt they want a 1st time owner leaving the lot with paint chips and a bad expirence. If the dealer is unwilling to throw in any goodies SOA most likely will. Good luck

You should have addressed any issue you immediately saw with the vehicle prior to signing and driving it off the lot.
When I took delivery of my Impreza, I inspected the heck out of it. If there were any paint chips or dings, I would have refused delivery until it was resolved.

With that said, I did notice some scratched trim on the interior of my car a few days later and the dealership fixed it at no cost, since I didn't cause the damage.

In terms of financing, it's pretty obvious your salesmen was out to lunch or outright deceitful. The 1.9% financing, or whatever it's at now, is all over the place. My dealer is now offering 0.9% on the 2017 Impreza. You'd have to qualify for those rates, but that's what's offered from Subaru. I got an auto loan for 1.9% from my credit union for 60 months last December when I purchased. I would assume Subaru would have 60 months, maybe even 72 months options. 6.4% is outrageous, unless your credit is shot. I think Subaru even offers ZERO PERCENT on some other models right now!

The infotainment system recalls are annoying, but they're quick fixes. Less than 1 hour at the dealership.

Your Subaru dealership should have a specialist in customer support, what I like to call the "concierge dude". My guy, who was not the same as the guy who sold me the car, walked me through all the features and made sure I was a happy camper. Go find that dude at your dealership and discuss your issues.

I would try to fix things first with the dealer, especially if you're getting it serviced there. If that doesn't work SOA is a great resource and will definitely help you out.

Congrats on the purchase!

I would never take delivery of any car that wasn't in mint condition regardless of what they promised me. Picking up a 2017 Limited loaded tomorrow for my Son. 0% for 63 months. This will be our 4th Subaru.

Yea I had my dealer wash and wax mine and I sent it back to the detail guys because some areas looked like crap.

NO excuse for a brand new car to have scratches or dings, you are buying a NEW car.

Subaru's current offer is 0% for 36 months, .9% for 48, 1.9% for 60-72 months, for those with good credit. You can find this on the corporate website.
