Im not even sure what to title this Thread, but I have a lot of general questions about the audio in my 2018 Sport. I was initially impressed with the sound quality of the H/K system, with decent enough low end, and the ability to retain most of the sound quality at higher volumes. I purchased a really nice Focal 250FE sub and powered it with a PheonixGold Z1000.1. I had a local shop that specializes in car audio do the install, as I was really busy with my business and didn't feel like messing with it at the time; so, I'm not sure how it is wired in, or if it takes signal from the H/K amp or HU. I've owned my Impreza 2 years as of July this year, and I've noticed that the sound quality of the HK dash tweeters (and even the doors) has gotten notably worse. I do highway driving, and ever since I got my tint done, wind noise has been an issue, so the volume I listen to music at is frequently around 20-30. I'm not sure if this is wearing out the speakers prematurely, but I have to say with it being a 2018 and already seeing this level of degradation, I'm pretty disappointed with what is supposed to be the "high-end" sound system for this car. I mean some songs have the most ABSURD distortion coming from the dash speakers on the higher frequencies that its genuinely unlistenable, and im noticing some distortion in my door speakers as well. They just don't sound clear or crisp anymore. Furthermore, my sub sounds GREAT on some songs, with great, responsive, tight bass, that is appropriate to the volume of the song. Adds a great punch and lets you feel the music, just so you know the sub is there, but it doesn't overpower the mid range/vocals. Yet, on other songs, the bass is overpowering and muddy. It sounds super boom-y; the really low frequencies dominate all the other sound, and its just not good. I've spent HOURS over the last year or 2 tuning the amp that powers my sub to tune out the "sub-bass" frequencies, but like half of my songs still just never sound good. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the DSP in the H/K system. I use Spotify and Apple CarPlay to stream all my music, and the EQ on Spotify is also tuned quite heavily to try and clean the sound up more; I've done my best and I'm still left disappointed at the quality of what I'm hearing sometimes.
Is anyone noticing these issues with their H/K system as well?
Is anyone replacing their door and dash speakers?
How does the H/K amp work, and should it be bypassed or replaced for better quality?
Is anyone running a sub and how is it wired? similar issues?
General tips are tricks on how to fix some of these issues would be also appreciated.
