I was looking at Aeroflow dynamics carbon steering wheel install video for the 2022+ wrx, and the steering wheel looks exactly the same as mine on my premium sedan, except the bottom part is flat. I’m almost certain it’ll fit my car because the buttons are the exact same. I know Subaru reuses a bunch of parts from other models. Like the va wrx and Brz lower control arms being the same as the Imprezas. Or how the forester has the same interior as ours.

Is the premium trim a urethane, vinyl, or leather wheel? I know the base is urethane and sport comes with leather wrapped steering wheels, which to me is fairly thick compared to the leather wrapped wheel in my Miata and the urethane wheel on my Isuzu.

I found a few with flat bottom but not as flat. Reshingu Carbon Fiber + Perforated Leather w/ red stripe Steering Wheel Subaru Impreza 17+ / Legacy 18+ / Crosstrek 17+ / Forester 18+ / Outback 21+

they have separate section for wrx but different SKU so might not work? yea one thing I hate is how thin the wheel is. I saw few people add wraps. I dont have this just found but interested.

Thanks. I was thinking of trying the wrx version. But I like the Imprezas steering wheel as it’s better looking to me lol. Even though it’s expensive, but at least I’ll know it’ll fit for sure.

I've been waiting for aftermarket options for the VB WRX, as it finally went global platform! It's no secret the VA WRX has an insane amount of OEM style steering wheel options that are fantastic... Hopefully the VB market follows suit and we can get nice alcantara, CF, and flatbottom options for our imprezas! I'll raise your 90% and say I'm 95% sure all global platform steering wheels are interchangeable, provided same button layout. (Most notably eyesight and SI drive buttons, which the 2020+ sports got)

I'm currently running the 2015+ Subaru sti steering wheel and airbag fits in perfectly, the only difference was the wiring for all of the media controls, this will definitely work on the Impreza platform. You can check out my steering wheel on instagram @fb20impreza
That's sick! I wouldn't have thought that swap would work, but I suppose once you figure out the pinning for the plugs, why wouldn't it? I wouldn't do the swap, just because I've driven VA WRX's and personally never liked the button layout, and I think the buttons themselves date the interior, but it looks great in yours. Plus I bet the flat bottom is awesome.

Deffinetly had to look up a lot of pictures and videos, but it works great for me. havent been able to find a good picture with the wiring diagram so i havent been able to fix the media controlls. In total the sti steering wheel and the air bag cost me 415$.

I know the iDoing headunit for WRX's allows full customization of the steering wheel buttons' functions in it's settings. I wonder how hard a retrofit of that would be... pretty soon you'll just have a full wrx dash 😂

For the people who have done steering wheel wraps, how are they? Do they go to hell after a while or do they hold up? What are some reputable companies y'all have used? I've contemplated the wrap route but thought it might turn out cheap looking and not last long.

Anyone got $700-$900 extra just laying around for a steering wheel? 😂 😂

Man, that's more than the Moss Miata wood finish wheels, ouch.

I’m not a fan of those steering wheels. Looks cheap and something that should be on a car from the 80’s
I mean, for a car designed in the 80s to replicate the 60's roadsters seems fitting...
I actually got an 80's Mazda Rx7 wheel for my Miata to replace the leather cracking OEM Miata wheel.

As for the Impreza, $800 still seems steep for what is effectly a copy of the OEM wheel that costs less...
This one is for $500
OEM is $400.

I'd think your title on this post should more accurately be "I'm sure the WRX steering wheel is 90% the same"..... Of course, it's that extra 10% that will cause you about 90% of the issues.....
Nope. Its all global platform now, so minus fitting the appropriate controls on each side, I'd be 90-99% sure they are exactly the same fitment as well.

The OEM wrx alcantara wheel would actually be a good option since it's flat-bottom... when it becomes available lol. But at a +$450 option just to get it on the VA, I have no idea what it would cost as a stand-alone unit.

Which trim has the alcantera? I selected the limited trim, but I presume the GT may have the nicer wheel.
