Impreza vs 6 cylinder Subarus

We had 3 H6 Subaru's: a 2002 VDC Outback 3.0, 2006 Tribeca 3.0 and a 2010 Legacy 3.6R. I really liked the motor, the hit in MPG's wasn't as bad with the Legacy. I could get almost 30 MPG on the highway with 5 people in the car. The 5EAT with VDC and VTD also made it a great car in the snow.

I didn't want a turbo motor but did want a manual that's why I have the Impreza but in between the Legacy and the Impreza I had a BRZ Manual, only 4 cyls

The Tribeca was not the best looking vehicle and the third row seat was pretty small. Only fit two small people. I don't think the ascent would have done better with 6 cyl, the 4 turbo has some get up and go for a vehicle of it's size. My son is a car Hyundai salesman and I've been in both the Tellurde and Palisades, for the money they are really nice cars with a bunch of tec that works well.

That's interesting about the BRZ, I didn't' realize that about the manual. I think maybe the BRZ was something a potential WRX owner went to instead. I think a WRX owner may want a manual more like the BRZ owner. I think a number of people gravitate towards Subaru that drive manuals because they offer them in a number of vehicles still. I think I'm more surprised the Miata is only 58% though. As a Miata owner I think it's a crime against humanity to put an auto in a Miata :)

Personally, I was looking to replace my old Miata with the BRZ. In the end I kept the BRZ 3 years (great car) but could not part with the Miata. I wanted back into AWD and a Manual was important to me. I didn't want a turbo or to have a big car payment, the Impreza Sport is what replaced the BRZ. I still have the Miata and our other cars are a 2013 Outback and 2001 Forester.

The one 6 Cyl that I really wanted but it only came in an Automatic was the Outback Sedan VDC. I test drove one and though it was pretty cool and unique. In the end we got the Wagon Version, daily driver for my wife. Don't forget the first H6 3.3L version was the Subaru SVX :) I've seen a few up close but have never driven one. I always thought that was a cool car.

How many WRX CVT models does Subaru sell?
If you don't like the Subaru CVT, you are not alone. Subaru says a whopping 85 percent of WRX sales are 6-speed manual transmission models, and only fifteen percent are for the CVT automatic. We expect the results to be the same for the 2022 WRX GT trim with the new Subaru Performance Transmission (CVT).

I guess the major similarity between the WRX and BRZ is they are enthusiasts cars and many like to drive a manual. Time was we could say that manual got better MPG's and was less expensive. That's only half right now. I still think it's more fun but manual drivers are clearly in the minority.

The XT started as a turbocharged car, but they had the first Subaru 6 cylinder H6 2.7L, but the SVX is more of a collector's item today (although it was not a great seller

Yes you are right, I always think the XT was the Turbo motor only. A friend had one super funky car, weird steering wheel.
