I use an iPhone and I have not tested with my Android phone....but I will

But has anybody noticed that on calls via Bluetooth or wired, the
call volume is incredibly low? Even turning up the volume dial makes
little difference. I have the Phone Volume setting set to the max volume
(in the Volume Settings of the Infotainment).

What I have not tried though, is messing with the phone while driving
to up the volume and think it could be bluetooth related. Which would
be weird because I have no such issue on the many other bluetooth
devices I use the phone with in calls and music.

I keep my radio volume at a reasonable level, but when I made a phone call last night it was almost as if the volume turned itself down automatically. So I began to adjust the volume and it was at the same setting. I turned up the volume and didn't notice much of a difference.

Later I made another phone call and I heard the person on the other line a lot better. I have no explanation as to why the second phone call was better than the first. I'll try to make a few more phone calls to see what else happens.

For me personally it has nothing to do with the car being noisy. Actually, I don't think the Impreza is as noisy as people state. Maybe I just keep my radio volume up to high than others?

Definitely not the car noise, I can hear navigation, radio, alerts fine at road speed just by adjusting the
various volume settings, but something is whacky with the phone volume.

Oh I was stopped at a light when I did the car.

have to play with it a bit...

OK, so I just drove around and I think I know what's going on.
I made 20 test calls...to nobody...

It appears you have to set the Phone volume to 30+ or so.
The max value is 38 (who the heck picked that number???).

So this is in Settings > Sounds > Phone Volume
And once in the mid 30s or so, it sounded fine.

Once set, it stayed at this volume and can also be adjusted by the
volume knob once in a call. Phone sounded fine then. You'll see
that setting value on the display as your turn the volume up
and it's the same thing. Make another call, volume is fine.

Does not appear to be related to the phone itself, I tried it with
the phone's volume way down and way up and it behaved the same.

What I didn't check is if it stays at that number once you shutdown
and then restart. So when the phone rings, keep turning up the volume
until above 30, maybe 35 is good. Near the top. Seems unnatural.
If you haven't adjusted this settings, it may be at 20 or so - in
the middle of the range and way too low. That's why it sounds
low to everybody.

Like other's, I realized I am losing settings, presets, shortcuts - but
not SiriusXM presets - they're fine as others have said. So this
could be part of the phone volume issue - always goes back
to 20 - I'm not sure.

I can confirm that the Phone volume setting goes back to 20 when the car is restarted.
This may be by design or just another quirk. The other volume settings did not
reset.
