No word on cylinder deactivation or other new fuel saving features in this.

What's New for 2017
This is an overview of the Subaru cars for 2017.

This is dated 08/11/16

In case the links go dead for some reason, I included the "Preliminary Specifications" PDF with this post.
The "What's New" PDF was too large to be posted, but it doesn't contain anything we haven't seen elsewhere.

This is some amazing information here ! Thank you very much.

An increased rigidity of over 70% is pretty phenomenal though.

I can see why the specifications sheet was designated preliminary. I was hoping to see all the trims, features, optional equipment and all that jazz. Still don't see them mention cylinder deactivation, but then again this is just the most basic copy of their spec sheet.

If they're really going budget here then cylinder deactivation will probably be in the books, likely its easier to include that then to find ways to improve gas mileage while not compromising anything else like power, torque and smooth distribution of it.

Improving efficiency while maintaining power is real hard. The cylinder deactivation directly addresses that and gives you the best of both worlds thankfully. I'm pretty sure this will be implemented, it's just a matter of when as for some reason I don't think it'll be included in the initial release.
