Found a video in Japanese of the Impreza's rear detection system and how it works while you're on road and when you're in a parking lot. That's a large detection range when it comes to the left and right rear while driving.

Great feature to have since you always have those idiots who drive in your blind spot and it's not always you can prevent them from doing that depending on whats going on. Unfortunately tech like this might make people dumb and too dependent on tech than their own eyeballs.

That's been happening though. People think just because they're some sensors that it automatically means they can solely rely on them. These aren't things that idiot-proof a car, just there to aid you.

It's not idiot proof and at some point, someone is going to hit something and blame Subaru but for everyone else, the safety reverse feature works as a safeguard and double checks for us after we ourselves have checked surrounding areas. Would be great to see the stopping distance when the Impreza is reversing.

Lol I can already see the people trying to sue Subaru because they managed to hit a car and the tech didn't "stop" them or "tell them it was there"

while that is bound to happen it's a small issue for them, compared to the large part of people that understand this tech isn't 100% hands off, by default most people are skeptical about this tech. then you have data recorders which help the car maker, it helped tesla in one accusation.

It helped Tesla in multiple accusations, that undoubtedly, they are still going to be receiving for a long time coming.

A lot of people are still/still will be skeptical about this. Just one of those things they are expecting I guess.. People need to use more common sense and be more adaptable lol

Anyhow, Nice piece of technology to have. Use it wisely. Not a necessity and shouldn't be seen as one. Call it a day lol

As long as Subaru is telling people all the right things about this technology then there won't be any problems.
A lack of knowledge creates problems like what happened with Tesla, Tesla made it clear what the systems limits are, people ignored that or didn't inform themselves.

It's all in the marketing of their new imreza lineup. Just put the rear vehicle detection feature in a commercial and people will know all about it. Too bad they didn't put in a superbowl commercial this year, there's a lot of people watching those.

Maybe Subaru will give potential buyers a lot of incentives to go with the Impreza if they don't move a lot of units in the first year. Maybe even give us the rear vehicle detection feature for a reduced price.

you can probably negotiate after a year or a year and a half but I highly doubt Subaru themselves will add it as standard from factory. That's just hoping for too much.

You could always wait a while after the initial release, wait for those incentives and deals when dealerships are trying to get rid of their old models.
