I've no respect for bootlickers. Government or corporation.

Numerous posts I've made on this forum, pertaining to misadvertisement of 89 octane being standard for this vehicle. A number of users here took the corporation's side over the scammed consumer's. Fact of the matter: SOA is instituting a coverup regarding 89 octane pinging. I have evidence to make this claim as 100% fact without concern of libel/slander.

SOA tried to SCAM me. I caught them and I didn't let them do it.

Many of you thought i was funny that a consumer was having a problem, treated my replies as a joke, by your emojis I could tell you were on the side of the SOA SCAMMERS and not on the side of innocent victim consumer.

No respect for the lot of you. You know who you are.

Fact of the matter: I have $4500. You have $0 and SOA's * is in your *. Too bad there's a limit to alerts history, or I'd tag you all.

For those wondering what this is about, look here: Rattle noise under light acceleration - not sure what it...

TL;DR?

Impreza is advertised for 87 octane. My car pings on 87 octane. It shouldn't ping on 87 octane because it is advertised as a 87 octane vehicle. Many people have this issue with Impreza and Crosstrek. Nobody does anything about it, except me, and I am "laughed" at for it. In this post, I return the laughs back at the bootlickers.

I'm not busting chops so please don't take it like I am but where does your Subaru call for 89? I ask because I use 87 and my manual calls for 87. Here is a snip-it from my manual.

I believe he meant 87 over 89 - and that the car doesn't ping for 91/93.

Congratulations :) I think this is a win :) Not that I don’t love my Subaru - however everyone including corporations can always improve in every and all aspects of daily life including honesty …… in this aspect they can improve :)

Small follow up question please :) I don’t hear marbles in my car - am I missing something or am I just slowly going deaf lol ?

You are on the better side of things then. Not all seem to be affected by it, but those who are, it's pretty awful.

So I should be filling up with 89 octane?
You should fill up with 87 if you don't ping at 87.

If you do ping at 87, get a free cleaning per TSB. They'll fill up your tank with 91 so it doesn't ping on the way out. Ride it to empty and fill up with 87. Still pings? You've a lawsuit.

I've done one fill-up on 89 the next on 91/93 (fill up a little under half tank every other week or so) since I've had my 2023.

haven't had any issues yet but like the typical Subaru's the injector noise causes paranoia every once and a while even though I know it's normal for them (still not as bad as a new Mx5 though if I'm gonna be honest).

I wonder if im still eligible if im past warranty and car is paid off...
I've been thinking the same thing... I have plenty of paperwork and documented visits about it already. Life is tricky and I had to pick the battles I could spend energy on at the time, but might be time to re-visit the situation again.

Wow man I honestly wish I could kiss you it’s hard to put into words how astounding this post is.

I totally hear knocking at 87 and you know what it’s kind of disgusting that I have to put 89 at least in my vehicle otherwise it knocks.

a vehicle that’s supposed to run on 87 runs best on 91, that’s turbo numbers. In the manual it says knock is normal, Mr subaru even made a video about it.

as of right now I’m filling with 89, I only fill up half way from one gas station so I can go to another and fill up with 91 if I hear any knock. But id like to fill up with 87 like advertised.

it would be amazing to recoup some costs from this deception, I love my car and I love how it drives, but the compression on it is so high, it needs high octane gas, and if it knocks it’ll retard the timing and try to correct itself but that’s only after the knocking has occurred, and then at that point how much of this knock has adverse affects? What about if all knock has adverse effects.

In the manual it says knock is normal
No it doesn't say that.

The engine may, on rare occasions, knock when the vehicle rapidly accelerates or rapidly pulls away from a standstill.
On rare occasions, transient knocking may be heard from the engine when the accelerator is operated rapidly such as a rapid start-up and a rapid acceleration
The issue I'm writing about is not rare and not intermittent. It is 100% reproducible and it happens during light acceleration or during a constant speed, not high acceleration mentioned in manual. Higher octane resolves the issue.

You should not have to fill with 89 to have a properly functional vehicle. It was advertised as running 87. If it does not run 87 then you were tricked by deceptive advertisement.

Awesome work! Now everyone should go file a lawsuit and win some $$$ for mods haha. I wonder if im still eligible if im past warranty and car is paid off...

It shouldn't matter if the warranty is over or not, the issue is false advertisement.

the statute of limitations is up to four years from the date the contract was breached. If a case involves damage to personal or real property, the statute of limitations is up to three years from the date the damage occurred. (California)

If you've taken it in about the ping and have the ROs about it and it still pings then you have a pretty good chance to win in court or reach settlement.
