My Subaru has been making a slight rattle (like marbles scrambling) under light acceleration for the last month. Brought it in thinking it was exhaust and heat shield but they didn’t notice anything. Going to be bringing it in soon. Any ideas ? See comment below for reddit video (apologies for low quality)

It shouldn't do that, if it does that then you have been tricked by SoA. I've had cars with 200,000+ miles that did not ping on 87. False advertisement.!
I sued in small claims court and settled for $4500.

Did you find the root cause? My 2019 Subaru Impreza is making the exact same sound. 60,000 miles. I’m hoping it’s a cheap fix.

Mines has been making the noise for going on 3 yrs. Summer time it’s more prevalent Winter not so much, honestly I think I’ve just learned to drive around it. Not letting the car lug around in low rpm’s, no extreme issues still going on 92kmiles started at 35k. Ik it sounds bad but it’s makes me think if it’s really even detrimental to the car. Obviously everyone has their own experiences and it’s a definitely a ticking time bomb but. Still no fix go figure, Not even an extension on warranty bulletins like the transmission. Go Subaru

Thanks for the reply. I took it in and they told me it’s a result of carbon buildup due to the high levels of ethanol in California gas. Didnt give me a quote yet. They said it won’t make a difference if I use 87 or higher but I think I’ll start using 91 just to see if it makes a difference. Ahhh Subarus

I started getting LSPI at 11K miles and I NEVER use ethanol gas. I use 87 no ethanol. If I use 91 or higher, it doesn't do it. I was also told it's carbon buildup, but they did TWO induction cleaning services and that didn't help. And really, how much carbon can I have at 11K miles? They took pictures and one set of intakes was pretty gross but the others weren't bad.
