I had those Weather tech mats in my '07 WRX and LOVED them. Until they started curling inwards.............. Anyone know of Weather tech has fixed that problem from occurring?
I had the same issue with a previous car. It was a 2013 Corolla S and the mats would curl, especially during the summer. Not really a big issue for me though. I would have bought WeatherTech again if the driver mat covered the dead pedal completely. Since it doesn't everything on your shoe will just fall behind the mat.

Ordered the Husky mats. Everything I'm reading sure makes them sound like the better option, and I actually like the idea of the cover for the gas cap release. It and the trunk release were uncovered in my old car and they got really gunky.

Well today I decided to take the "all season" rubber mats out of the plastic to put into my car. (winter is coming after all) ;)

Crap, and when I say crap they are TOTAL crap. The coverage is horrible leaving a HUGE area under the gas peddle. With all of the salt I am going to track into the car this season I picture a huge, white, crusty mess on the black carpeting not only that but the channels are non existent, basically a flat mat. So, I guess it is after market mats for me I say to myself. I have never had to purchase aftermarket mats because the Subaru mats for the Legacy/Outback are fantastic.

I went and looked at Husky and Weathertech of course. I went with Weathertech.

Why? Because the Husky company requires you to buy the whole set of mats, I just wanted the front ones. I think the mats themselves are very similar and they are both made in the USA.

Going to fire off a letter to SOA and let them know how disappointed I am with the all season mats.

I was skeptical of the Subaru OEM mats. They barely covered anything. Weathertech's looked decent but holy cow a set of four was pricey. I ended up with the Husky mats and I'd 100% do it again... and I'm a heavy user (dog fur and drool, clay mud from sailing, misc kid stuff).

After I purchased the Weathertechs I really looked at the Husky mats and feel that they are better.

I used WeatherTech for years, but the prices seem to be going up and up. A few years back I purchased the Husky’s for my wife’s Forester, they’re definitely more substantial and cover more area than the WeatherTechs, a much better price too. Just put Husky’s in my Sport, great product. I sure don’t miss paying for all the advertising that WeatherTech does.

Seriously? Are you saying the you like the Husky's over the WT?
I've seen quite a few comparisons while I was researching my mat options and he's not the only one voicing that opinion. I never got mats for my previous car but looked long and hard at both Husky and WeatherTech over the years. Decided I was going to do it this time while the car was new.

Went with the Husky's for a few reasons: coverage looks better from the web images (I particularly like that it might help keep crap out of the gas cover release), and a lot of research seems to suggest in recent years that the Husky might just be the better product, despite WeatherTechs continued strong brand name.

Reported issues of the WeatherTechs providing less grip for your shoes, being thinner material (unknown if that really impacts longevity), sliding, and curling on the edges also mounted as I researched further. In fact, while plenty of people would claim that the WeatherTechs were better, they rarely provided as many objective (beneficial) details of why you'd chose them over the Husky mats. The biggest complaints I kept finding against the Husky mats in recent years is they weren't WeatherTechs.

The longer warranty also weighed in favor of the Husky mats for me.

The two biggest pro-WT claims I saw were: availability for more vehicle models (don't know if still true but not a major issue for our Subarus) and a surface that has a darker, deeper black look which some say looks better. I'm curious how well WT's claim of having a special design to direct fluid away from the driver's feet actually works. I see what they're claiming, but without trying it I'm not convinced just by looking at the design of them and I haven't seen many WT owners raving about that purported feature.

Not sure you can go wrong with either, but I suspect it will be a while before I can determine if my Huskys were really a bad pick and I don't have a way to really compare the mats to each other anyway. Lots of variables to control

I hear you all and as they say, to each their own. I have had both as well and, for me, zero comparison between the Husky and WT. The material the WT is made out of is far more durable and I do like the rich deep color as well. The only issue of substance that I read that several have mentioned is that the dead pedal on the Husky goes up higher than the WT. Maybe if I lived in snow country I would care but I do not. Don't get me wrong, the Husky's do the job and are cheaper, I just don't care for the material they are made out of and they do seem to wear faster where your heel hits the mat for gas and breaking due to the softer material. I, personally, don't care for covering up my fuel door release but, again, don't deal with snow anymore. As a very wise man once said, in the end they are only floor mats:wink2: I am just shocked to see the number of folks on this forum liking the Husky's more but the Impreza is a more economical car and price may be an issue for many. Is what it is...just surprised to see. Happy Turkey Day everyone!

I definitely live in snow country so the improved coverage of the Husky was by and large the strongest selling point. The trunk release on my 05 legacy stopped working well due to rust caused by all that salty slush!

No problem spending the extra money on the Husky if it were a better product, but my excessive amount of time wasted researching suggested that perhaps it wasn't.

I bought both, laid the Huskey's down first then the weather techs snugged up real nice. Now I have better coverage by the gas pedal, dead foot is completely covered and the gas lever is also covered, both worked out great, 5 star both products highly recommend!

Confused, you have one on top of the other?

i am so glad Husky is making mats for our cars. i had them in two of my old F150's and loved them! i have Weathertech in my Crosstrek and while they cover great, they just don't come clean as i would like. the Husky liners always seemed to come cleaner than my WTs. i may use Husky in the Impreza.

Gotta say that I prefer the Husky over the Weathertech now. They are slightly more rubbery than the WTs
Reported issues of the WeatherTechs providing less grip for your shoes
I'd say shoe grip is my biggest concern.

The '17 Impreza we test drove in the rain had the Subaru mats, and they were scarily slippery just getting into and out of the car in the rain.

Do folks that have tried both feel like the Husky mats have a more grippy top surface than the WeatherTechs? I assume both are more grippy that the factory mats...

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either WT or Husky. Both are far superior than the Subaru mats. I have Husky and have used WT before. The only reason I went with Husky over WT was because of better coverage (fuel door latch and dead pedal). In my opinion the quality is definitely better with WT.

Right, I got all that from reading the above. :)

My questions is: how do they compare in terms of top surface grip, or your shoes not slipping across the wet floor mat?

Can't speak for the Husky's since I am not a Husky fan but the WT in my Impreza appear to be "grippy" to me and my feet don't slide all over the mat at all. I can only assume that the Husky's aren't much different.

Husky did send me a free set when I returned my first set to amazon because I didn't like the fit so great customer service.
