Interesting that the new Prius, at 192hp, is going to out-power the Impreza RS.
Well the Prius Prime now outpowers the Camry Hybrid.
I hink that Toyota is gearing up for a giant battle against CARB in 2026 when CARB has mandated 35% of new car sales mus be Zero Emission Vehicles, which have been defined as BEV, FCEV, and 20% PHEVs with 50 mile range. My personal prediction is that while the state as a whole may break 35% because of Tesla, few, if any, of the traditional brands will break 35% except for possibly Volvo and Volkswagen.
My personal guess is that Toyota Motors North America (Toyota + Lexus) will still be in the single digits as a percentage, Right now they are the only automaker that outsells Tesla in CA so if CARB wants to impose financial penalies on any automaker who misses their goal then Toyota is a big target.
By then Toyota will have a hybrid 4Runner and Tacoma, and hey will have discontinued their partnership wih BMW that allows them to sell the Supra.
This new Prius that barely resembles the original Prius will produce sales figures that will be Toyota's #1 flagship in the legal battles.

Remember that General Motors successfully sued CARB in 2001 about mandatory percentages of EVs. The 2001 ZEV rulemaking modifications allowed large auto manufacturers to meet their ZEV requirement with 2 percent pure ZEVs, 2 percent Advanced Technology PZEVs and 6 percent PZEVs.

Cost of my Impreza: 20.5k - 4k discount = 16.5k
Hello everyone! I'm new here. My hatchback's Chevy Aveo 2006 just seized in the heat.

How do you get $4k discount on Subaru Impreza Wagon? Is it still possible?

The dealers are trying to sell me 2018 Subaru Impreza Wagon for $18k. Is it just inflation or what?

Many thanks in advance to those who reply!!!

I bought it on memorial day when there are good offers. I signed up for newsletters from all local dealerships and on memorial day one of them sent an offer for 3500 off. I called around and found a dealership who offered to beat that price by $500.

Just saw this this the thread. I have to say that the Crosstrek will out sell the Impreza. Ever since the Crosstrek got the new Subaru Global Platform it's sale went up 85%!!!
Now that the Impreza is no longer available in a 5 speed speed it lost the manual enthusiast. Now that's it's fully automatic I can see why car buyers would lean more heavily on the Crosstrek due to its more rugged looks and increased ground clearance that makes it more off-road capable over the Impreza's 5in of ground clearance to 8.7inches! It has more clearance then some SUVs! It's pretty much a no brainer to go with the Crosstrek.
As for myself I still love the Impreza much and was very sad to see the discontinuation of the 5-speed manual. I was actually thinking about getting the new gen until I heard it was no longer available as a manual.
It will be sad to see the Impreza be sent out to pasture and the Crosstrek be the only option for a compact car/cuv.
I was just reading up the declining sales in Subaru and the Impreza isn't the only one on the brink the WRX isn't doing too well. Subaru pulled the STI which was a huge mistake. The STI would of kept the WRX above water but as of late it's drowning alongside the Impreza, BRZ and Legacy which is being discontinued next year.
It would be great to see Subaru wake up and reintroduce the STI and the manual transmission in the Impreza and Crosstrek. It shouldn't be a issue since they were able to make Eyesight work the manual transmission thats offered in the WRX and BRZ. So why not the Impreza??
Only time will tell which direction Subaru decides to go and we pretty much know it's going to wrong way.

Subaru is dropping manual transmissions because American buyers don't want them. Vehicles equipped with manuals accounted for 1.7% of new car sales in the USA in 2023. It doesn't make economic sense to participate in that tiny market segment.

We've owned two Outbacks for a combined 20 years, and will replace our 2015 with a new Outback next year. While I appreciate their comfort, capability and load-carrying capacity, like most SUVs they're not that great to drive due to their high center of gravity compromising handling. I drove ours heavily loaded with luggage on a 700 plus mile round trip last week and it leans significantly in corners at typical highway speeds. Not enjoyable or confidence inspiring.

If you truly need poor road/off road capability, I agree that the Crosstrek is a better option. But for driving on paved roads, the Impreza does just fine in most weather and handles far better.

I'm not convinced the Impreza will be dropped because I don't see Subaru abandoning entry level buyers--those same buyers that will purchase their more expensive offerings later in life.

We've had 4 Outbacks so far in the last three I've upgraded the rear sway bar to a larger one and that helped with the leaning in corners. Also a pretty simple thing to do. The OB's were my wife's DD cars. When we replaced our 2013 last year my wife drove the new (2023 at the time) OB's and Foresters. I was really surprised she picked the Forester over the Outback this time. We've been very happy with it having taken a few long trips. She absolutely loves it. I asked her what made her pick that over an OB this time. The only thing she could offer up was it just felt better, she liked the ride and driving position. We've had three Foresters and time was when the Forester was a smaller vehicle. Not anymore though it's gotten a lot bigger. Worth a look is all I'm saying. I still like the Outback a lot though.

I agree that Impreza isn't going away. I love my Impreza Sport and will hold on it till the very last day. I love the way the Sport handles. It really planted in the turns especially with summer tires. The all seasons are screamers especially during really hard turning but still controllable but wouldn't push it as hard as summers as you will experience under steer.
I just went for a really nice drive this past Sunday and I had grip for days on the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires which was OEM for WRXs. There was one hair pin that I went into almost a tad to hard and felt the backend come out just a little lol. I really do enjoy pushing my Sport to its limits.
