Thanks guys! I got it to work!!! Finally got a chance to drive and we're going into full lockdown again.

 

I guess AA will show only apps that meet the requirements that AA has. I've used several music apps, but only Simple Radio, TuneIn Radio, and BBC Sounds work directly through AA. Any other app (Like Accu Radio) only work through Bluetooth.

 

On your phone, launch AA. Go to settings, general (customize launcher), and make sure Waze is one of the selected apps. In your car, once the car is started, connect the phone and launch AA from the car display. Pick the circle in the bottom left corner of the screen. Pick Waze from the apps list that comes up. If this doesn't work for you, see if there are updates to the versions on AA and Waze installed on your phone.

 

Right, that seems to be the problem. I don't have waze as a selectable. As soon as I connect, it goes in to maps. I'm going to try loggin into Waze and then pluggin it in.

 

I’ll try it again next time I drive her car and see if it defaults to waze since I used it last.
Probably Sunday when we do another semperfi dog run.

 

Mine defaults to the last used, which for me is Waze. Pick the icon that's on the bottom left of the screen in the picture above to change between apps. If Waze is on your phone and not a selectable app on the display, then maybe you don't have it as a selectable app within AA on your p

 

It defaults to google but i was able to select waze.

I’ll try it on my daughter’s car when I get home in the morning. I’ll install Waze on one of my android phones now. She has the 6.5” screen.

Hi, I've got Android auto. And the 6.5" version of the head unit. Can you provide some info on how to get Waze? It always only defaults to Google maps.

 

Have you installed Waze on the phone first? Download from Play store and set it up on the phone. Then it should appear as an app on Android Auto.

 

Tried it out a few times, not convinced I really would use it much over Google Maps but we'll see.

 

Waze

I use Waze all the time. I use iPhone so I doubt it will be available to me, unfortunately.

 

Maybe we'll see this on Apple CarPlay at some point. I've never used Waze, but always heard good things about it.

 

I hope so too. Waze is like the next best thing to having a radar detector.
