I was under the impression that the PIAA inserts wouldn't fit the stock housings. I could be wrong though. When I get a chance I'll take a look at the housing.
Yes your correct the PIAA inserts will not fit the stock housings. (If you purchase "just" the inserts).

However if you pull out the inserts that come with the Si-Tech blades, those fit just fine into the stock housing.

Drivers side is the stock housing with the PIAA insert from a Si-Tech rubber. Passenger side is a PIAA Si-Tech with it's adapter. The passenger wiper arm sits slightly higher than the stock wiper.

..except when they don't. I tried the PIAA wipers a couple years back, got 1 26" (which fit), and 1 16" (which did not fit). Ended up getting a replacement for the 16", which also did not fit. Ended up returning the 16", and replacing that one with a cheap Trico. The 26" PIAA si blade left little grooves on the windshield from day 1, and was actually worse than the Trico Exact Fit straight out of the box. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement.

Of course, the Trico degraded over the winter, and the PIAA stayed about the same; didn't get any worse. I consider the hype around the PIAA si blades to be mostly ad copy; they are just a mediocre blade, but one that degrades very slowly.

FWIW, I went down to my local Advance store last weekend, and decided to ask the store manager if anything had changed, and if any of the better brands will work now. He told me that the only thing he could guarantee still was the Trico Exact fit. So, sadly, it seems true that any other brands are available only through online sales, and are fairly limited models. It's really just between the dealer (mediocre) and Trico (cheap and mediocre).

I will go with Bosch Envision 100% of the time. They fit perfectly with no needed for any adjustments. Just use the adapter that's made for the Subaru hook up and it clips right in no issues. I have had the same Bosch Envision blades on the front for just over a year with no signs of wear. Also I also Rain-X or it's equivalent Peaks windshield wiper fluid that's designed to make the water bead up and roll off the glass. This makes wiping so much easier and in turn requires less use of the wipers. Also depending on the outside light conditions I am able to have the wipers off completely and just use the natural air flow to push the water off the glass and it works amazingly well. I highly recommend Rain-X or Peaks washer fluid.

Perhaps I'll make a movie.
I never had trouble with removing the PIAA rubber and repurposing in the stock blades, I also wax my glass, so that helps.

You know what I just picked up a stock 16" blade and it appears Subaru changed the rubber design. PIAA on the top Stock on the bottom. So yeah maybe the Si blades won't fit these new Subaru Blades. I know my 2017 stock ones the PIAA Si blades rubbers fit.

Hey, I have a '21 and the stock front blades are starting to seperate.
I was looking in to these blades based on your recommendation and it says they don't fit my car on the bosch website.
from the wording of your post, it sounds like you are using some adapter.
Where can i get one of these?
or am I wrong and Bosch provides one or something?
sorry for the ignorance

Hey the Bosch Envision blades come with the needed adapter for the Subaru wiper arm clips. I don't know why the Bosch site states otherwise. I bought my Bosch Envision blades both driver side and passenger side at AutoZone and I am sure other auto parts stores offer them too. Here is the direct link for the Bosch Envision blades I bought.
Side note: you will need to remove the adapters that are pre installed on the Bosch Envision blades and then snap on the adapters suited for the Push button wiper arms of the Subaru. Push button meaning that u slide them on and hear them clip on and to remove them to push in the small square button to unclip the blades.

Yeah and you will be set. I also highly recommend using Rain-X as your windshield wiper fluid. Buy the gallon bottle and buy a 2nd bottle and put directly into a spray bottle to use as your window cleaner on all the windows when washing the car. I wouldn't buy the Rain-X that comes packed in their spray bottle cause it's way overpriced and using the windshield wiper fluid in any spray bottle will just as good and last much longer.

thanks for the advice!
Apparently it's going to be a hell of a time trying to find those blades in canada.
Might have to order from some USA-based online seller and pay the shipping.
sadly no one in canada seems to have them and autozone doesn't do international based on their shipping FAQ

I will also look into that for you.

Do we have a 16" or 15" for the passenger side? Tirerack says 15". Amazon says 16".
I know 2021 is 26 and 16.
all others in gen 5 should be the same but just to be sure plug in your year and model into Genuine Subaru Parts & Accessories | Subaru Online Parts and search for "wiper".
the descriptions will tell you the size of the related part numbers (even if you buy other blades, it'll be a good way to be 99% sure).

Just an update about the envision blades (and for anyone else finding this thread with the same interest in them as myself).
I reached out to Bosch and was informed the envision blades are exclusive to AutoZone and not sold anywhere else.
Sad day for us Canadians looking for these I guess

these are direct fit with no adapter needed

In my quest to get the PIAA from Tirerack (they have the wrong passenger side size), I ended up getting those that you posted above until I can get the right size PIAA. I want to get from Tirerack because they are much cheaper than Amazon.

Both Subaru blades that got replaced ~2 years ago are shot. The driver's side is split in the middle and the passenger size if split at the ends. The stock blades lasted almost 3 years and only had them replaced because of the warranty.
